Azaleas: A Little History

Dear Friends & Family:

With a broken heart, I have made the decision to close our West Village doors before the end of this month (August 2020).  The public health crisis and its uncertain future has impacted our business and made it difficult to carry on operations.

Azaleas will continue for now in the East Village, our original home.

I want to thank my team that has always been by my side and without whom I could not have realized my dream. I also want to thank all our lovely and loyal customers from the West Village but also the ones that have shopped with me for the past 18 years.

Please swing by (with a mask and still social-distanced) or just wave from the window. I hope all of you stay safe and happy. Let’s quickly get back to that other side!

With love and gratitude,

Here’s a short history:
Azaleas opened with a small dream in 2002.

I never thought I’d start from a sleepy block on 10th street in the East Village and move on “up” to 2nd avenue.

The new East Village storefront was and is the perfect space for us. Slightly sunken for privacy but still well-trafficked, the avenue exposure helped our business thrive and grow.

From 2016, our small operations with an all-women team expanded to the West Village. 125 Greenwich Avenue was built from scratch and with a bigger budget. I got to make my dream store space with five (!) spacious dressing rooms, “waiting area” for partners, and a separate lingerie and swim room.

Unfortunately, we cannot throw an epic party like we had for our opening but still hope to see you one last time in the west.
