the winters here are long and all think about is escaping, but the summertime in new york city is just the best. people leave the city to go to the hamptons or wherever, so it's easier to get reservations at restaurants; the energy is even higher with the heat; all the weirdos come back to life; the people scrounge for any piece of green whether it's the rat-infested union square greens or the big stretch at central park. it's just plain awesome.
this year i have a long list of Dos and i'm only expecting to do 3-4 out of this list but here goes:
1) brooklyn bridge walk - still haven't done it!
2) coney island - get a corndog since i'm no longer a corndog virgin
3) brooklyn botanical garden - check! (see below for photos; hmm having trouble - next time)
4) brooklyn museum
5) red hook ball fields
6) natural history museum
7) bbq - invite me!
8) turntables on the hudson
9) PS 1 party
10) frying pan - it's back i hear
11) mid-summer night swing

13) maybe a central park opera or classical concert
Went to that Gen Art event the other night and there were quite a few designers that we carry at Azaleas: Lara Kazan, Clo and Yumi Kim. But there were a bunch of other emerging talents that we are glad to have found. Here's a sampling:
Sovereign Beck - A cool, sophisticated necktie line that may not be for us but definitely for our stylin' boys

Jewelry - there are just too many jewelry designers out there. I wasn't that into this line but my friend pointed out this one charm necklace and the psycho in me has to have that block butcher knife.

my fave line that i heart heart heart and wish we could carry at azaleas was the label linus. the designer is sweet and the collection reminds me of stella mccartney's line. the simple lines, rich textures and subtle prints and details are just exquisite and is worth every penny.
this is the dress that i was coveting but when i swung by for the second round it was already taken. you best not be wearing that dress in front of me or i just may tear it off of you.
i DID get the dress in black tho and that's probably easier to justify.
